At the end of a pre-game interview Sunday, Dana Jacobson, a CBS reporter, asked Bill Belichick about the decision to release Antonio Brown, the wide receiver.
Belichick responded simply, "Yes, we are focused on the Jets." While Jacobson thanked the Patriots coach for his time, Belichick hesitated and stared at Jacobson.
The eye has attracted criticism from other members of the media, including L & # 39; Atlantic Jemele Hill, the writer, who called him "weak and unprofessional".
Dana did her job. That's what you are paid to do as a journalist. Those in power must be held responsible. That's fine if he chooses not to answer the question. This look was weak and unprofessional. https://t.co/5kGySyTTgs

During a recent episode of his podcast, "The GM Shuffle", Michael Lombardi, former NFL General Manager (and former Patriots assistant), guessed about the circumstances that upset Belichick.
"He does not have to do a preliminary interview," Lombardi theorized. "He gives that, right? So, I'm sure he probably told CBS – he served them – [he said] "I will, as long as we do not talk about Antonio Brown." It's just Michael Lombardi who guesses, and I'm not looking Bill Billichich because he's my friend, but I've already seen him, and that look was: "I thought we had it covered. "
"This look was," I thought we were going beyond that, "" repeated Lombardi. "And we did not do it.And then this question was raised.
Lombardi questioned the logic behind Belichick even during the interview, in agreement with Jacobson about the line of questioning.
"I do not know why he agreed to do it. Dana Jacobson, if she has him, she must ask the question, "Lombardi said.
"But, there had to be a reason, because I had already seen that look and I think it was stuck, and I think that look was:" You said one thing, and that's what happened … opinion based on what I've seen. "
Jacobson responded to the discussion in a tweet from Monday:
I did my job yesterday. Coach did his. End of the story. You know what I did not like? Hike through the beginning of my interview with Ty Law. I would like to be able to do that again. ? Social media and sports radio can continue the discussion. I will prepare for my wedding on Saturday. ???❤️

Jacobson's fiancé is Sean Grande, the voice of the Celtics on the radio. He made a joke about the incident Sunday, also referring to their big day.
"I guess that's why he did not send his RSVP," joked Grande.
