Case names several current and former Ubisoft employees
Solidaires Informatique, a French union, today announced that it has filed a complaint against Ubisoft.
The complaint, filed yesterday by Solidaires Informatique, alleges Ubisoft of institutional sexual harassment. In a translation of a statement provided to Kotaku, the complaint targets Ubisoft as a legal entity to “establish, maintain and strengthen a system where sexual harassment is tolerated as it is more profitable for the company to maintain stalkers in place than protecting its employees. “
When contacted for comment, a spokesperson for Ubisoft told Destructoid: “We do not have further details regarding the scope of claim against Ubisoft.” They also directed us to a letter written by CEO Yves Guillemot about efforts to address the allegations made against the company.
Solidaires Informatique had previously announced that it was working on a collective action, launching an open appeal to Ubisoft staff members as well as to organizations wishing to help.
The complaint names a number of current and former Ubisoft employees, including former Creative Director Serge Hascoët, former CEO Tommy François, HR Director Cécile Cornet and current CEO Yves Guillemot. Hascoët and François both left the company amid reports of a toxic internal culture last summer, and Cornet resigned his post. Earlier this year, Guillemot wrote a letter detailing the company’s response to the allegations of misconduct. But a recent Bloomberg report pointed out that Ubisoft employees were said to have been dissatisfied with the company’s response to the allegations.
