The saga of the giant "L" flag, similar to the Milwaukee brewers' winning streak, was played Friday night.

Jay Ryan, a 30-year-old DeForest man, became one of the many late-season Brewers fan heroes last September, when he displayed a 25-foot-15 flag. He had bought for about $ 140 a few days ago.

While the Chicago Cubs were making their first appearance at Miller Park since this series, Ryan was back in the stadium and, thanks in large part to a clever advanced planning, his flag too.

Ryan, with the help of his father, Steve, unveiled the flag in a 438 section, if not empty, in the left corner of the stadium, at the start of the ninth round of the Brewers' 13-10 win.

The L recalls a similar flag flying at Wrigley Field on days when the Cubs lose a game.

They held the flag in place for about five minutes while Chicago scored three points to reduce the deficit by six to three points in the ninth inning on Friday.

"If we lose that, I'm going to be so embarrassed," said Jay as the Cubs litter riders' bases.

But then, the security of the stadium told them they needed to tidy it up and wait for the final exit to show it.

"They said to wait until the match is over," Ryan said. "Last time they told us we could not hang it over railings, so we're like," This is the best place. This is the only option.

Last September, after images of the flag hanging on the stands were circulating on social media, Ryan had tried to incorporate the flag at a later match Brewers Vs. Cubs using the backpack of his daughter Little Mermaid. The security informed him that he could not bring the flag into the match, so Ryan had to return to his car to leave behind.

"We took it in a backpack the first time, and they did not care," Ryan said. "We brought it a second time, we did the same thing. They said that people complained, so the security guard did not let us enter with her. "

A spokesman for the Brewers at the time said the decision was to prevent a back and forth between supporters of the Cubs and Brewers to bring more and larger props and potentially more dangerous in the stadium.

Ryan had a different plan this time: Saran Wrap.

"This time, I just put (the flag) around me and I wrapped it in a garment to make it as tight as possible," Ryan said. "Then I just put on a bigger sweatshirt."

Ryan went through the doors without anyone preventing him. But there would be security personnel who would find him later.

No more flags? L?

Friday night could be the last time Ryan's flag is seen at Miller Park.

According to Ryan, who plans to attend the games on Saturday and Sunday, the security services informed him that the flag would be confiscated and that he would be arrested for trespassing if he was caught at a later match.

The Miller Park Rules state the following regarding the addition of flags at the stadium:

Banners can not be scrolled in any part of Miller Park or hung on the railings. Approved banners and / or signs can only be displayed between the sleeves. The maximum size of the banner is 3 x 5 ".

Needless to say, Ryan's flag is a bit bigger than the maximum size allowed.

"I might need a Go Fund Me if I brought it back again," joked Ryan.
