A golf cart hurting American spectators

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – A fleeing golf car injured five people near the 16th hole of Pebble Beach Golf Links during the second round of the 119th US edition Friday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP stated that a salesman had driven the golf cart loaded with cartons up to a dealership located near the 16th hole and had parked it around 1:20 pm. AND. When the seller came out, a box fell on the cart's throttle and made it move.

Five people were injured in the incident, one with a broken arm, one with a spinal injury and another with minor injuries, according to the CHP. A person was transported to the Monterey Peninsula Community Hospital and slightly injured people at the Natividad Medical Center in Salinas, California.

A woman who claimed to have witnessed the accident told Golf.com that she was standing in a queue in front of the dealership when the cart started to move.

"We were in the concession line at the 16th hole when suddenly a cart came out running and a guy followed him, then a group of people who followed him," said Georgie Salant to Golf.com. "In fact, he was coming straight to the concession line and then he turned, all by himself, and he did not stop, he started to go around in circles, he crashed as if , five persons."

The age of the wounded ranged from 25 to 82, the CHP told local California newspaper Salinas.

The USGA issued a statement on the incident, but indicated that only three spectators and the seller had been injured.
