A great video of the Milky Way will change your perspective of the Earth's rotation

While most people are aware that the Earth is spinning, it can be difficult to visualize this movement.

But an amazing video of the Milky Way will help you change your perspective of the rotation of the Earth.

The incredible video was shot by Aryeh Nirenberg in 2017, but began circulating on Twitter this week.

Mr. Nirenberg said: "A timelapse of the Milky Way that was recorded using an equatorial tracking mount over a period of about 3 hours to show the Earth's rotation relative to the Milky Way."

Every planet in our solar system has its own rate of rotation. While Earth only takes 24 hours to rotate, other planets take much longer.

For example, it takes 59 terrestrial days for Mercury to shoot, while it takes 243 terrestrial days to Venus to turn around once.

The video was put back into circulation on Twitter by author Adam Savage, who called it "gorgeous".

He wrote: "I am surprised that after all the beautiful periods of the night sky I watched, I could imagine that I had never imagined this specific point of view by far.

"What a vertiginous genius, executed to perfection. Sensational."
