A helicopter crashed into Chesapeake Bay; 2 bodies found

Two bodies were found after a helicopter crash in Chesapeake Bay, Maryland, the US Coast Guard said.

The authorities identified the missing pilot as Charles Knight, 38, of Mount Airy, Maryland. The passenger was Matt Clark, 36, of Pasadena, Maryland, the Associated Press reported. They were located around 8 pm

News has received reports that a helicopter crashed in the waters around Bloody Point, at the southern tip of Kent Island, shortly before 12:30 pm, according to Scott Wheatley of Queen Anne's County. EMS.

A Coast Guard spokesperson told the WTOP that he had received a report that a two-seater helicopter carrying two men had broken down. Coastguards deployed several rescue boats to search the area.

A "debris field" has been located, confirming an accident, Wheatley said.

Several county rescue agencies and programs have been involved in rescue efforts, including the Maryland State Police, the Anne Arundel County Fire Department and the US Coast Guard.

Anne Arundel County Fire Department has deployed a dive team to assist with research.

The Associated Press reported that the helicopter had taken off from Tipton Airport near Fort Meade, in the county of Anne Arundel, and that it had been rented to a private pilot Saturday morning by Monumental Helicopters, who performs helicopter rides outside the airport.
