A huge fraud Anthony Joshua knocked out by a thirsty and hungry man

Andy Ruiz Jr. entered his name in the history of boxing Saturday alongside Buster Douglas and James J. Braddock when he shockingly defeated Anthony Joshua, British boxing sensation, on a TKO seventh round to become the world champion heavyweights IBF, WBA and WBO.

You do not need to examine the betting odds, nor even the respective antecedents of each fighter and the history of his opponents to determine who was oppressed in this fight. Judging a book on its cover would have been very useful. Anthony Joshua is this charming and elegant British whose body looks like that of someone who calculates the nutritional value of every vegetable that he consumes and who likes to participate in grueling workouts because of his sadistic virtues. Ruiz, meanwhile, seems to have decided to become a heavyweight boxer, so he does not need to remove complex carbohydrates from his diet.

The fight might not have begun with the unilateral domination that many hoped Josué yielded to Ruiz, but he quickly showed why he was the defending champion in that fight. At the start of the third round, Joshua hit the Mexican Stay Puft Marshmallow Man on the canvas with a powerful three-shot combo that set the New York crowd on their feet. After taking a moment to catch his breath, Ruiz stood up, absorbed some more powerful strikes from his opponent, then returned the favor to Joshua.

What this clip does not show is that Ruiz managed to overthrow Joshua later in the game while the Mexican wearing a muffin was leaning his opponent in a corner. Joshua manages to beat the count again, but the bell rings before Ruiz gets the chance to hit him again.

In most, if not all, sports imbalances, surprise victory does not come from nowhere in the moment, it's just something that is built for. This fight was no exception. Once Ruiz knocked out Joshua, the Mexican fighter began to fight with more confidence against the unified champion and even seemed to steal a ride with his technique. But in the end, it did not matter, because in the seventh round, the challenger had submerged Joshua from a powerful shot that had hit the champion twice. The referee decided it was twice too much, and called the match when Joshua clearly did not want to fight anymore.

It is interesting to note that when the famous ring announcer, Michael Buffer, introduced the match judges before the game, the crowd of Madison Square Garden burst out laughing when he finished with the standard "if this fight were to go up to At the end ". It turned out that the fans were right to make fun of the idea that this fight ends otherwise than with a knockout, it just did not work out as planned.

This loss also caused serious damage to the scenarios in this division. If the fight went as planned, Joshua would have taken advantage of this fight to fight his way to a big game against Tyson Fury or Deontay Wilder. This last opponent is expected for some time, but the only criticisms that one or the other of the fighters launched have been through press tours and tweets. Boxing fans will now have to wait a while before getting the long-awaited heavyweight fight, as there is a good chance that a Joshua-Ruiz II will be available soon. But Ruiz obviously could not care about this nonsense of this story. The fighter realized his dreams on Saturday, when he became the first Mexican fighter to become heavyweight champion despite the appearance of an opponent to throw a boxing movie. At the post-fight press conference, he was able to celebrate with the flag of his country behind him and a Knicks jersey on a blue t-shirt, a fashion choice out of the ordinary. Better yet, he was aware of the opportunities that this victory would represent for his career and for the future, and began making important promises.

"Mom, I love you," he said at his press conference. "Our lives will change, we no longer need to struggle."

If Ruiz is clever, he will also find time this week to thank perhaps the main responsible for his victory on Saturday: Drake.
