A Japanese television spot for Awakening from The Original Link shows the playful side of Nintendo

The announcement of The legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening Remaster for Switch has allowed many players to revisit the original and rediscover the quirks of Koholint Island and its people. The city's new artistic style of remaster toy is a plastic evolution of the aesthetics that we have seen in a link between the worlds on 3DS, and although he's divided the players, we think that it seems charming.

As the game sparked renewed interest in the original version of Game Boy (and the DX version for Game Boy Color), reddit user onex7805 discovered a Japanese TV spot for the original game, reminding how Link's Awakening was strange since the very beginning. Check it out:

Aside from two seconds of sequences on the Game Boy's overlay screen, the entire ad is made up of Link's puppets and the main cast that plays the clown and plays excerpts from Link's adventure.

Of course, Nintendo is used to using puppets to promote games – think back to the versions of Iwata, Miyamoto and Reggie's muppet at E3 2015 and the original. Star Fox puppets that inspired those.

Yet these classic commercials make us feel a bit more creative than the standard ads we get today with the Switch brand, which launches 30 seconds of gameplay footage.
