NEWARK, N.J. – A JetBlue flight was evacuated to Newark Liberty International Airport on Saturday morning after a flight attendant saw a "suspicious item," according to NJ.com.

According to the outlet in New Jersey, a spokesman for the Port Authority confirmed that the authorities were conducting an investigation after the flight attendant JetBlue 573 noticed the product and called the authorities around 7:45 Saturday.

The flight 573 from JetBlue was originally scheduled to leave Newark at 6:10 am to arrive at Tampa International Airport shortly before 9am, according to the airline's flight tracking system.

JetBlue issued a statement Saturday morning confirming the delay, saying that flight 573 had been "delayed for extra security checks as a precaution".

The airline also said the flight had taken off from Newark at 11:27 and that it was now scheduled to arrive in Tampa at 13:54.

Twitter user @theamazingtoby said his wife, Nikki Morris, was on the flight and republished the photos that she took on Twitter of the plan with the luggage removed and sitting on the tarmac at the airport.

The vehicles of the port police can also be seen around the plane in the photos.
