A leak of documents regarding Siri reveals that digital assistant upgrades will arrive at the end of 2021 in order to support new hardware.

A list of Siri upgrades expected before "the autumn of 2021" includes the expected elements of "new hardware support" for a "new device", although a report released on Friday shed light on these details. Under the codename "Yukon," Siri upgrades will introduce Find my Friends support to voice service, according to the documents. Siri will also include support for accessing the App Store, although the corresponding features are not advised by a report.

Integrated machine translation could enable language interpretation capabilities within Siri, without the need for a cellular or other connection, which could be convenient for travelers.

A large part of the internal documents provided to The Guardian by an old Siri "binder", explains how Siri could work with other devices in different ways. The simplest features that allow Siri to read message notifications to AirPod users are suggested, as is the ability to use Shazam via Siri on Apple Watch.

A more important function could be to control Siri on one device to perform actions on another. One example given is "Play Taylor Swift on my HomePod", which could be said remotely on an Apple Watch or iPhone and interpreted to control the user's smart speaker at home.

The most important element is probably the ability to "have a reciprocal conversation about health issues" with Siri. While this may take the form of a presentation by Siri of a basic user diagnosis to determine whether medical treatment is worthwhile, it is also possible that the conversations are part of HealthKit or ResearchKit, the initiatives of Apple in the medical field.

Despite the lack of information on the type of new devices equipped with Siri, one of the most likely candidates is the HomePod, which manages to reach markets like China, where competing systems from Google and Amazon are not available. . It is plausible that Apple could produce a "mini" version of the HomePod, offering consumers a cheaper and more similar version to that of Google Home Mini and Amazon Echo Dot.

According to rumors, Apple would be working on a new generation of audio device for some time, a cheaper variant having also been predicted by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in April 2018, although such a model n & # 39; Has not yet been launched.
