Joel Coen, half of the Coen brothers, will go solo to bring a new version of William Shakespeare Macbeth on the big screen. It's pretty exciting in itself, but it's better. Denzel Washington is in talks to play Macbeth and frequent Coen collaborator (and wife of Joel Coen) Frances McDormand will also be performed by Lady Macbeth. The Coens almost always work together and made all their movies in pairs (although Joel was credited until The ladykilers. The variety confirms that it will be Joel's first feature film without Ethan. I am not sure of the reasoning behind all this. Maybe Ethan is busy or not interested. I just hope we have not seen the last of the Coen brothers as directors duo.
Beyond that, I am incredibly pumped about it. Although there have been many adaptations of Macbeth – including Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard in 2015, it is too good to ignore Shakespeare, with Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand, in the lead role played by Coen.
Lord Macbeth, a Scottish power-hungry, and his intriguing wife, Lady Macbeth, plotted in Shakespeare's classic play to seize the crown and take control of Scotland, accumulating a number of deaths along the route.
