(KNSI) – An arrest warrant has been issued against a 22-year-old man accused of murdering his parents near Long Prairie.
The Todd County Sheriff's Office said that Dylan John Bennett killed 63-year-old Barry and Carol Bennett at some point in the morning or in the afternoon of Sunday, and had fled the town. State.
The couple was found dead by gunfire on Wednesday after the sheriff's office was called to their home for a welfare check.
Investigators said Barry Bennett had told officials in December 2018 that while he was in treatment, he had thought to kill them.
Investigators say Dylan Bennett took credit and debit cards from his parents, his mother's car, and withdrew a large amount of money from his parents' bank account.
Police said he had gone to Columbus, Ohio, where he had met with someone and asked him to hide a 9mm handgun.
According to the criminal complaint, Wednesday, Dylan flew from Columbus to Atlanta and to Cancun, Mexico.
He was charged with two counts of second degree murder.
