A man accused of murdering his mother in Colorado may be angry at someone else at the trial, according to new documents

Recently published court documents indicate that Patrick Frazee, the Colorado man accused of having killed his fiancée, Kelsey Berreth, could be a defense that will involve someone else at his trial in October. Berreth, who disappeared on Thanksgiving last year, is also the mother of Frazee's child.

The court documents do not mention the people on whom Frazee could point fingers, but it could be the case of his former girlfriend, who confessed to having played a role solely as a result of the murder.

Former girlfriend of Frazee, Krystal Lee Kenney, gave prosecutors a horrifying account of how she said that Frazee had told him that he would have murdered his little girl's mother.

Kenney stated that Frazee had told him that she had killed Berreth at home after she had convinced him to wrap a sweater around his head and guess the smell of candles, then hit Berreth to death with a baseball bat while she could not see.

Prosecutors said that after allegedly killing Berreth, Frazee had called her former girlfriend to help clean it up. Investigators said Kenney admitted seeing Frazee burn Berreth's remains in front of his home.

CBS News spoke to Michelle Stein, a close friend of Kenney in February, who told us that Kenney feared for her life.

"I think it's a very dangerous person," Stein said. "She had a very very good reasoning for everything that she could have done or not."

Kenney initially said that Frazee had asked her to kill the 29-year-old mother three times, suggesting including poisoning Berreth's coffee.

"I think he's a real narcissist, he's a master manipulator, and he's probably manipulating every person who comes into contact with him because he thinks he can do it," Stein said.

Kenney pled guilty to altering the evidence in the case but denied any involvement in the murder of Berreth. Frazee 's lawyers are asking a jury group of about 300 people because of the widespread publicity of the lawsuit.
