A man and a woman from Michigan died after a long police clash with a dispute between neighbors over the noise caused by the July 4th fireworks, authorities said.

The man had barricaded himself at home after shooting a crowd, wounding a 12-year-old girl and a woman in her 60s, according to the Associated Press.

According to the police, both the girl and the woman have sustained injuries that are believed to be life-threatening. The dead man and woman, who have not been identified, were found dead inside the house, according to NBC News affiliate Click On Detroit.

The officers stated that the gunman was 58 years old and the woman was 60 years old. The killer died by suicide, according to Click On Detroit.

The man opened fire after arguing with his neighbors about the sound of the fireworks on Thursday, reported Click On Detroit. He then went home and returned to the crowd with a rifle.

The police spent almost a day and a half waiting for the man to surrender after being barricaded inside. SWAT teams and a bombing unit were dispatched to the scene, according to Click On Detroit.
