The man from Manhattan who was crushed to death by a faulty elevator in his luxury apartment died of a blunt neck and torso injury, the city's medical examiner said on Friday.
Sam Waisbren, 30, also suffered "mechanical asphyxiation," said the ME.
Death was accidental, he was determined.
Waisbren was crushed by the elevator at the Manhattan Promenade Tower on Third Avenue near East 25th Street shortly after 8:15 am, police said.
The surveillance video of the horrific accident obtained by The Post shows that Waisbren tried to escape from the elevator full to bursting as he plunged from the lobby into the lower well, but it was crushed between the elevator and the wall of the well.
On Friday, the city's investigation department said it was investigating the death but would not describe the subject of its investigation.
The DOI is responsible for "investigating and prosecuting cases of fraud, corruption and other illegal activities by City employees, contractors or other persons who do business with the City, "according to its website.
