A Nevada man probably died last week after a series of powerful earthquakes on the west coast, which caused the collapse of a car he was about to break, hanging under it, announced the police.

"The vehicle in which the man was found stuck was safely lifted and, depending on the position of the body and tools found on the scene, he appeared to be working on the vehicle at the time of his death." Sgt. Adam Tippetts of the Nye County Sheriff's Office said.

Tippetts said that the victim, who has not yet been publicly identified while awaiting a family notification, was seen alive for the last time alive at a local gas station July 3rd.

"Based on the timing and preliminary circumstances at the scene, the Nye County Sheriff's investigation reveals that his death could result from the fall of the vehicle on July 4, during the earthquake," Tippetts said. .

A magnitude 6.4 earthquake struck Ridgecrest, Calif., On July 4 at around 10:30, but Tippetts said the effects were felt deep in Pahrump, more than 300 km away.

A second earthquake hit Ridgecrest the next day with an epicenter of 7.1.
