According to the Times Union of Albany, Geoff Turner, 66, wanted to warn others not to be mistaken in an obituary written and published Saturday.

The resident of Albany, in the suburbs, died on February 13, about three months after being diagnosed with stage four lung cancer.

Turner's daughter, Sarah Huiest, claims to have smoked most of her life. She says her father knew it was a bad habit, but he could not give it up.

Turner said in the obituary that he was "an idiot who made the same stupid decision, day after day".

Obituary says to remember "life is beautiful – do not let it go up in smoke".
