A man injured during a shootout on the highway on the weekend in Waterloo released from the hospital

IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) – The passenger of the car hit by a bullet on the US Highway 218 was released from the hospital after being treated for his injuries, said Tuesday a hospital official.

Adam Kimball, 32, was a passenger in the car and was being treated for injuries to hospitals and clinics at the University of Iowa. Tom Moore, director of media relations and spokesperson for UI Health Care, said that he had been released from the hospital.

Micalla Rettinger, 25, was shot in the back of her neck while driving on US Highway 218 near the Greenhill Road exit in Waterloo around 2:30 am Sunday morning. She died later of her wounds. A third passenger in the car was not injured during the incident.

The Waterloo police are still investigating the shooting.
