The court records show that a federal judge in Orlando on Friday sentenced 58-year-old Robert Francis Pratersch. In April, he had been found guilty of threatening a federal official and transmitting a threatening state to another.

Federal prosecutors say Pratersch left three anti-Semitic and profane voices in Sanders' office in Burlington, Vermont last fall. According to the authorities, Pratersch reportedly threatened to behead Sanders in "ISIS fashion" and filming the execution. The remark referred to the militant group of the Islamic State.

Pratersch was indicted by a federal grand jury in February and arrested later in the month in St. Cloud, Florida.

Sanders is looking for the Democratic nomination for the presidency.
