A homeless man who lit a homeless woman in West Virginia while she was sleeping was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

According to media reports, Carl Tramane Magee III was sentenced on Friday to the Kanawha County District Court. A jury found him guilty of arson murder in March and subsequently recommended not to have pity on him.

Police said the 44-year-old woman was asleep under a porch in Charleston in July 2017 when Magee poured gasoline on her and lit her on fire. The video of a surveillance camera showed Magee heading to the porch with a gas canister and a fire lit.

Magee was also sentenced to 15 years in prison for burglary. Authorities say Magee comes from California but they have not given his hometown.
