STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – A man is in critical condition after being shot by police at Sterling Heights.
Police from Sterling Heights were involved in a shootout shortly after 3:30 pm Monday in a mobile home park in the Utica Road and Van Dyke area. According to the police, there was a fight between a group of people on the street. The agents were directed to a house where one of the people involved in the 40000 block of Bonaparte Avenue.
This man came out of his house and pointed his gun at the police, the police said. Officers fired several shots at this man, hitting him several times.
He was rushed to hospital and is listed in critical condition. No officer was injured.
"It's crazy.It's crazy, knowing that something like this can happen unexpectedly," said his neighbor Charlie Alband. "It's amazing … especially around all those houses."
Sterling Heights police asked the Michigan state police to conduct the investigation.
