ORLANDO, Florida (AP) – A Florida man sues a consumer products company after reporting permanent scarring and discoloration on his face resulting from the use of a hair dye for men.

David Collier's complaint states that the company Combe did not properly warn consumers that they might have allergic reactions to its Just For Men hair dye.

Combe did not immediately respond to an e-mail soliciting comments on the complaint lodged at the end of January.

Collier claims that his batch of Just for Men was defective.

The complaint also states that African-American consumers, such as Collier, face a much higher risk of allergic reactions to an ingredient in hair dye than white clients.

The company advises consumers to perform a skin test before using the product. Collier's suit says it's not enough.
