BARRON, Wisconsin – The Wisconsin man who admitted to kidnapping a 13-year-old girl after the murder of his parents must be sentenced.

Jake Patterson, 21, faces life imprisonment when he is sentenced Friday at the Barron County Court of Appeal. He admitted to kidnapping Jayme Closs and killing his parents, James and Denise Closs, on October 15 at the family home near Barron, about 90 km northeast of Minneapolis.

Jayme escaped in January after 88 days in Patterson's hut, near the small isolated town of Gordon, about 100 kilometers from her home. Patterson told the authorities that he had decided that Jayme "was the girl he was going to take" after seeing him get on a school bus near her home.

Patterson had previously pled guilty to two counts of first degree murder and kidnapping.
