CLEARWATER, Florida – A Florida man convicted of first degree murder for dropping his 5-year-old daughter from a bridge four years ago is seeking a new trial.
John Jonchuck was sentenced to life imprisonment earlier this month, despite his lawyers' claims that he was legally insane. Nobody denied that Jonchuck, 29, dropped his daughter Phoebe 18 meters in Tampa Bay in January 2015 and that he had a long history of mental problems.
Prosecutors said Jonchuck was avenged and was planning to kill his daughter away from his mother and grandmother.
The Tampa Bay Times reports that the motion filed on Friday argued that several of the trial judge's rulings were unbecoming or unfair to Jonchuck.
