After years on the shelves, the Vampire: The Masquerade franchise is gaining momentum.

First come the release of the fifth edition of the classic table role playing game, then the announcement of a sequel to the cult classic Vampire: The masquerade: bloodlines. Now a small team of developers outside Poland has announced Vampire: The Masquerade – New York Coteries, a narrative adventure inspired by Telltale Games.

coteries will allow players to choose from one of the three iconic vampire clans of the ruling Camarilla to oppose the early Anarchists. In the modern context of New York City, players will have to assemble a party – also called "coterie" in vampire jargon – to preserve the masquerade and consolidate power among the city's undead population.

The developers of Draw Distance (formerly iFun4all, manufacturers of Serial Cleaner among others) say in a press release that the game is strongly inspired by narrative adventures to the Telltale.

"Vampire: The Masquerade – Coteries of New York aims to translate the complex and fascinating world of vampires, their nocturnal struggles for power and their attempts to preserve their humanity, into a format never explored before by the brand – an atmospheric narrative experience, "he said on his page. Steam.

In fact, this is not the first time that the franchise is interested in this format. There was a narrative digital game released by White Wolf, the original developers of Vampire, in 2017. Vampire the masquerade: we eat bloodit was developed by Asmodee Digital for mobile devices and was also available on PC. This game took the form of a series of SMS between vampires and, sometimes, their hosts. Zak Sabbath, also known as Zak Smith, is one of the authors of this game. Smith has recently been eliminated from several roleplaying projects as a result of troubling historical claims. Sexual and emotional abuse developed. The game is no longer available, but its Steam page still exists

This time, Draw Distance is expanding the possibilities offered by a narrative format.

"Thinking that interactive history meets choices, that's the matter," says Steam's page, "A dark, atmospheric and emotional narrative meets a way, similar to that of Telltale, to create dilemmas morally difficult, answers that fully belong to the players of a variety of possible purposes. "

Along with his resurrection, the Vampire franchise has been the subject of much controversy lately. The White Wolf team committed several non-forced mistakes before publishing the fifth edition of the board game. The owners, Paradox Interactive, finally cleaned the house, turning the entire organization into a licensing division.

Daily activities and content creation for the table franchise are now handled by Modiphius Entertainment under license from Paradox. The Draw Distance team said it will work closely with it to join the new canonical knowledge set of the game.

"The game does justice to the mature themes of the dark world", says the Vampire: The Masquerade – New York Coteries Steam page, "and takes advantage of the excellent atmosphere of the source material. It also creates new stories that, thanks to the full creative license, will be incorporated as the official caption of Vampire: The Masquerade 5th edition. "

Vampire: The Masquerade – New York Coteries will go to PCs Linux, Mac and Windows, as well as to the Nintendo switch in the fourth quarter of 2019. No price information has been released.
