ORONO, Minnesota – A prominent businessman who has previously played in the Minnesota Vikings apparently killed his wife before killing himself.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner on Friday released a report that 77-year-old Alexandra Light Jacobs had died from several gunshot wounds. The medical examiner says that 77-year-old Irwin Lawrence Jacobs has died as a result of numerous gunshot wounds he himself inflicted.
Police said their bodies were found Wednesday morning in their bed with a gun in front of their lakeside home in Orono. The family scheduled a memorial service Monday afternoon at the Lafayette Club on Lake Minnetonka.
Irwin Jacobs was co-owner of the Vikings in the 1980s and also owned the household products company J.R. Watkins Co.
