The minor league baseball player, Blake Bivens, broke his silence two days after his wife, child and stepmother were killed in their home in Virginia, allegedly by another family member.

Bivens, a 24-year-old Tampa Bay Rays launcher, posted a photo on her Instagram page Thursday night, showing her mother-in-law alongside her wife holding their baby. All three smiled.

"Two days ago, my heart turned to ashes, my life as I knew it was destroyed," wrote Bivens in a long legend accompanying the image. "The pain felt by my family and me is unbearable and can not be expressed in words, I was shaking and trembling at the thought of our future without them."

Joan Bernard, 62, Emily Bernard Bivens, 25, and Cullen Bivens, 14, were found dead Tuesday morning at the family's home in Keeling, an unincorporated area near the southern border of the Virginia and North Carolina. Matthew Bernard, 18, was arrested later in the day following a manhunt under three counts of first degree murder for allegedly killing his mother, sister and son. nephew, according to the Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office.

A firearm was used in the murder and a caller at 911 reported a shooting. The causes of the deaths have not been confirmed, the authorities said.

In his post on Instagram on Thursday, Blake Bivens wrote moving tributes to each of his family members killed.
