TAMPA, Fla. – The family of former Plant High School football star Eric Patterson asked Monday night for the person who killed and killed Patterson to come forward.
Patterson was murdered at his home at West Plaza Place in Tampa early Saturday morning.
Police said the gunman broke into the house and Patterson's roommate woke up to find Patterson on the floor and the killer in the room. This gunman would have run from home and in a white SUV.
On Monday night, family, friends and former Patterson teammates held a candlelight vigil.
While praying with the group, Patterson's uncle thanked God for the time he had lent them.
Patterson's father, Eric Sr., shared his son's memories and asked the shooter to surrender.
"It was a good guy. He did not bother anyone. He played football and stayed alone, said Eric Sr. "I just lost my son. They do not know how painful it is. I just hope and pray that anyone has made it go. "
Patterson's sister, Javonica, said his brother will be missed by all who knew him.
"Remember that he had a good heart," she said. He is a good person, a good father. You took him for no reason. I do not understand. Just come forward. "
