OF THE MONKS, Iowa – The Iowa Lottery has released a plan for a new gift, funded by money from an unclaimed prize in Nevada.

"A $ 1 million prize was won at the Powerball draw on April 11, 2018 at a Casey store in Nevada," said Matt Strawn, CEO of Iowa Lottery.

This is the first time in the history of Iowa Lottery that a price of a million dollars has not been claimed.

Strawn said the money had to come in a new gift to follow the state code. "And then, policymakers, of course, with the revenue generated by the Iowa lottery, state policy makers decide how best to allocate those resources to the needs of the Iowa lottery. State, "said Strawn.

Gift tickets can be purchased from May 29 to June 18, and you do not even need winning numbers to get the prize.

"Every ticket bought at Powerball, only in Iowa during this three-week period, is worth a million dollars," said Strawn.

Several Iowans have said that with a million dollars, they would do everything from buying a car to setting up a university fund for their kids.

"With a million dollars, I would take care of my family, my extended family and I would prepare my kids for college, and all the rest," said Amber Hughes.

"I would probably first make sure that my kids' college education is fully funded, then I would find something fun to do and I would probably do a lot of things since it was just something that was falling on me anyway, "said Chip Albright.

"I also have two kids, so fun at the university would be a must. Beyond that, take a trip with the kids, "said Cody Allison.

"My husband and I would have new cars. We would go on vacation and probably give away the rest to charity, "said Carol MacDonald.

The draw for the promotion will take place on June 19th.
