A new legacy with LeBron James is awful

So i saw Space Jam: a new legacy on the weekends, and it’s just awful. Just an atrocious movie play and a blatant attempt to capture the fan’s nostalgia money for the original ’90s film starring Michael Jordan. I wanted to wait until today to write anything about it in order to get the opening weekend box office numbers. Over the weekend, tons of social media memes emerged that no one was going to see the movie in theaters. I haven’t watched it in the movies. I ended up creating an HBO Max account to watch the movie. So I thought, maybe the movie wasn’t as bad as it was advertised. Maybe the theater industry is still recovering from the pandemic, and because of that everyone just decided to buy the movie online and watch it that way.

This is partly true. Space Jam: a new legacy at the top of the weekend box office earning over $ 31 million domestically and an additional $ 22 million globally. LeBron James’ movie took first place in an MCU movie Black Widow. It should be seen as an absolute victory. However, seeing how Warner Bros. spent $ 150 million on the project, this film is unlikely to be considered anything more than a failure. The numbers for the film’s opening weekend also indicate that the film may not have a lot of stamina. With all the bad reviews for the film coming out as well, the film won’t stay at the top of the box office for long.

Now, let’s move on to the part of this article where I tear up the movie. Not for lack of money, which I guess is all that really matters, but because this is a terrible movie. I heard a lot of people defend the movie saying, “You know it’s made for kids, don’t you? And that’s just the worst argument you can make. I saw the movie. There were several references throughout the movie that the kids would never understand. What a 6 year old child saw Austin Powers or Mad Max? What child saw Casablanca? These, as well as references to the original Space jam, which, while not as many as you might think, are clearly aimed at an older audience. These tracks were meant to connect with audiences from the late 20s, early 30s and beyond. Yet these pieces always fall flat.

Just because a movie is made with young children as the intended audience doesn’t have to be a bad movie. Do you know what other movie I saw for the first time recently? Paddington 2, and it’s a phenomenal movie. It doesn’t have any pop culture references and no adult jokes, but for some reason this talking bear movie in a raincoat destroys Space Jam: A New Legacy in every aspect. Toy Story, Kung Fu Panda, The Incredibles, The Bride Princess, Coco, all of these films were also made for children, but unlike the new Space jam movie, they all tell a story that older viewers can enjoy as well. Believe me, I would tear this movie up just as much if it was meant for adults. When presented to a national audience, a bad movie is a bad movie no matter who is supposed to see it.

Obviously, I am looking for fruits at hand when attacking this film. Everyone and their mother have already done it. Just do a quick Google search for “Space Jam 2 review” and you’ll see a myriad of disparaging Warner Bros. content online. for that absolute stench of an attempt to take advantage of everyone’s nostalgia. I just want to point out that while everyone is talking about the seriousness of the movie, ESPN continues to praise LeBron no matter what he does. Just read their review. It’s amazing.

At the very least, this movie will be another fun way to compare LeBron James to Michael Jordan. Obviously, it doesn’t affect who the best basketball player is. That being said, let me leave you with that thought. In the original SJam rhythm along with Jordan, the Looney Tunes were attacked and recruited Michael Jordan to help him. He was the ace in the round the Looney Tunes needed to win. In Space Jam: a new legacyy, LeBron James is the one who needs the help of Looney Tunes. Without them, King James would have lost the game and his son. Wile E. Coyote was the MVP of this game, not LeBron. So tell me who really is the most valuable player.
