INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) – Hilton launches a new range of hotels, and Indianapolis is one of its premier sites.

The brand new, Signia Hilton, will focus on meetings and events, targeting "meeting professionals and savvy business travelers".

Indianapolis will be one of three starting points, with Orlando and Atlanta.

Each Signia site will also have at least 500 guest rooms inspired by the host city, a destination bar, an upscale restaurant and upscale wellness areas such as infinity pools, spas and fitness centers.

The location of Indianapolis spans 38 floors with 814 rooms.

We had a preview of this announcement in October, when the city's Capital Improvement Council, which oversees several city sites, decided to continue the project with Indianapolis-based Kite Realty.

It will be based on the site of Pan-Am Plaza. The $ 120-million expansion of the Indiana Convention Center includes a second Hilton-branded hotel, with 600 rooms designed to "complement the nearby historic architecture, but with a modern design."

The entire project is expected to be completed by the end of 2022. This, together with other hotel developments, will bring to more than 10,000 the total number of rooms located within walking distance of the convention center.

This process began last January when city officials decided to look for a new hotel in a 50,000 square foot convention center and ballroom. Chris Gahl, Executive Vice President of Visit Indy, said at the time that this decision was the result of a two-year study of congress and tourism needs to build loyalty and attract new business. .
