Niantic has announced a new limited search event for Pokemon Go. As on a community day, the event will last three hours on Saturday, February 23 and will give players the first opportunity to purchase a new Pokémon: Clamperl.

During the limited search event, players will be able to receive special field search tasks by rotating the photo disc on PokeStops. Other water Pokémons, such as Krabby and Wailmer, will appear more frequently throughout the event and players will be rewarded with twice the normal amount of Stardust for each type of event. Just like at the first limited research event, you will be able to perform the special field research tasks that you collect at any time, even after the end of the event, but they will only be distributed at times specified. The completion of these tasks will end with a meeting with Clamperl, one of the last Pokémon Gen 3 to feature in Go.

Clamperl has two possible evolutions: Huntail and Gorebyss. In the main games, the Pokémon will evolve towards one of the two forms according to the object which it holds during its exchange; in Go, however, Niantic says you will not know in what form it will change until it evolves. Therefore, you will want to capture as much as possible during the event to make sure you get both evolutions. You can find event times for each region below.

A special Meltan event is also underway on Pokemon Go. Until March 4th, you will have a chance to meet a Meltan Shelt at the opening of the mystery box. On top of that, the time you have to wait to reopen the box has been reduced by three days.
