A new Splinter Cell is apparently not in development

Stop playing games with my heart

Despite constant teasing and a recent cameo in Ghost Recon Wildlands, it seems that Ubisoft is not actively producing a new Splinter Cell In a recent episode of Kotaku's podcast, journalist Jason Schreier said the company was not actively working on Sam Fisher's return. You play with my heart here, Ubisoft.

"I asked the question to a lot of people because everyone wants to know if a Splinter Cell Schreier said: "Everyone I spoke to said no, as they know that there is no Splinter Cell game in production. "Although Schreier has an incredible track record with this sort of thing, savvy readers should note the wording he's used." Nobody with whom he spoke at Ubisoft knows if Splinter Cell is in production, so there might be a chance that it stays.

Still, I'm really not optimistic after news like this. It's been almost six years since Blacklist came out and we have not seen anything that looks like images of a new entry in the series of stealth action. That, in my opinion, says Ubisoft probably does not know where to take the series of stealthy actions. To copy Hitman is a bad idea and try to go the Metal Gear Solid V road does not make much sense for this series. With Ubisoft focusing more recently on live service games, there may be no future for Sam Fisher after all.
