The news presenters in Los Angeles were left shaken when a powerful earthquake of an initial magnitude of 7.1 hit southern California on Friday night.

Sara Donchey and Juan Fernandez were live for the evening newscast from CBS affiliate, KCAL 9, when the tremors struck. In a video that goes viral, Donchey told viewers, "We experience a lot of tremor if you have a moment with us."

"We make sure nothing goes down in the studio here," she added, before grabbing Fernandez's arm.

"It's a very strong earthquake," Donchey continued. "8:21 on the air here and we are experiencing very strong shocks. I think we have to go under the desk.

She then went to the shelter while the network went to advertisements.
