GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) – A viral story about the generosity of a man when scouts from the Northwest sold biscuits on a cold and rainy Friday, a new chapter: the good Samaritan was arrested by the DEA.
On Monday, we spoke to Kayla Dillard, who said a man had spent $ 540 to buy all the girls' cookies at a Mauldin Bi-Lo grocery store.
The man initially bought 7 packages of biscuits for $ 40 and asked the girls to keep the change.
He came back to the table shortly after and, according to Dillard, told the girls "to pack all your cookies. I take them all so that you can all get out of this cold. "
Dillard posted a photo of the generous girls and man on Facebook, which has been shared thousands of times.
On Tuesday, we learned that the name of the man who bought the cookies is Detric McGowan.
The DEA also told us that McGowan was arrested on Tuesday.
McGowan is named in a 21-page indictment, along with ten other defendants on a drug-related charge list.
McGowan charged with conspiracy to distribute heroin, cocaine and fentanyl; racketeering; sale and distribution of controlled substances; conspiracy to defraud the United States; and more.
According to the indictment, McGowan, known as "Fat Street", and his co-defendants conspired to import heroin, cocaine and fentanyl from Mexico around September 2018. He is also accused of attempting to conceal more than one million US dollars and transport it. Outside the United States; and drug storage and manufacturing in a building on Jefferson Davis Road, Laurens County, between 2016 and February 2019. According to the indictment, officials have detected heroin and fentanyl in the Laurens County building.
A spokesman for the DEA said the arrest of McGowan had nothing to do with the purchase of cookies.

The DEA said McGowan and his 10 other defendants had all conspired to import drugs from Mexico and distribute them throughout the north of the state.

- Lauren Poore, 35, from Piedmont, South Carolina
The US prosecutor's office said that one of the suspects was still on the run.
If they are found guilty, the suspects could be sentenced to five years in prison for life.
