A passenger describes his "boom" before the Delta flight landed urgently due to an engine failure

Travelers aboard a Delta aircraft connecting Atlanta, Georgia, to Baltimore, Maryland, experienced a frightening moment in flight when their flight was forced to land in Raleigh urgently due to A problem with the engine.

The Delta flight 1425 departed around 12:48. On Monday, from Hartsfield-Jackson International to Baltimore-Washington International, about an hour after take-off, the flight crew reported a problem with one of the aircraft's engines.

"The captain came to the speaker and said that we had lost an engine and that they were preparing for an emergency landing," said Jose Bahamonde-Gonzalez at WMAR-TV, a subsidiary of ABC News, Baltimore.

There were 148 passengers on board.

The plane – a 32-year-old MD-88 with fuselage-mounted engines near the tail – made an emergency landing at the Raleigh-Durham International Airport at around 14:27, according to FlightAware.

The plane landed safely in Raleigh while the fire and rescue crews were waiting on the tarmac. No injuries have been reported.

In a statement, Delta apologized to travelers for this inconvenience. WMAR-TV said the passengers had received a $ 30 food voucher to use while waiting for their next flight.

Passengers arrived in Baltimore a few hours later.
