A pediatrician joined the school board during Covid-19. His face mask recommendations could cost him the job.

FARGO, ND – When pediatrician Tracie Newman showed up for the school board here last year, so many residents were eager for her expert help in guiding students through the pandemic that there was a waiting list for his campaign signs on the lawn.

Now some of those same parents are supporting a recall campaign to remove her from the board. They say his recommendation that children wear masks this fall oversteps their right as parents to determine what is best for children’s health and education. They gathered thousands of signatures to remove her from the board, staged protests, and questioned Dr. Newman’s integrity at school board meetings.
