MEDINAH, Ill. – Violent storms in the Chicago area that changed the start of the BMW Championship on Sunday could end Phil Mickelson's 2018-19 season.

Mickelson tweeted Saturday, about 90 minutes before the scheduled time of his departure, at 11:52, that lightning hit the top floor of his hotel, causing a fire and preventing him from returning to his room.

"I can not go back to my room and I may not be able to find myself at the beginning because I am without sticks or clothes," he wrote.

Mickelson must leave the 10th departure with Brooks Koepka and Dylan Frittelli.

It is currently screened 49th in the FedExCup rankings. Sunday was probably his last round of the season, but it could have come Saturday in the form of a 69 to under 69.
