TL; DR

  • Google is reportedly working on a Pixel Pass subscription service.
  • This would bundle a Pixel phone purchase with a bundle of premium Google services.
  • However, there is no word on the availability or price of this subscription plan.

There are several ways to buy a smartphone these days, but it looks like Google might add another option when the Pixel 6 series launches later this month. A new retail leak has detailed the existence of a so-called Pixel Pass service.

The leak, revealed by YouTuber Mr. Brandon Lee on Twitter, alleges that Pixel Pass is a subscription service that bundles a Pixel phone with an Apple One-style collection of Google services and extended warranty. Check out a screenshot obtained by Lee below.

The services included in Pixel Pass apparently include Google One, Play Pass, YouTube Premium or YouTube Music, and Google Fi connectivity. There are two notable omissions here, however, namely Stadia and a Netflix-like streaming service.

There is no word on the availability and pricing of this purported service, although we assume it is an American offer at this time. After all, Google Fi works in many countries but needs to be turned on in the United States. It goes without saying that Google Fi would not be included if the offer were available elsewhere.

It’s also not clear if Google will launch a standalone service bundle that will exclude the Pixel phone and Google Fi, as that would certainly make sense. But pricing will be crucial for a standalone plan and a month of June 2021 Android Authority A survey found that most respondents would only pay between $ 10 and $ 15 per month for a plan like this.

How much would you spend for a Pixel Pass subscription service that included a standard Pixel 6? Let us know via the survey above.
