The police sergeant in New York who was in charge of the death of Eric Garner will be subject to an administrative trial by the end of the year, according to officials.
"At this point, there is another lawsuit, and it will also be a public trial organized by the NYPD for one of the sergeants involved," said Mayor Bill De Blasio on Tuesday. to MSNBC, referring to Sgt. Kizzy Adonis.
"It will be concluded this year. This will put an end to all discipline problems handled by the NYPD. "
A day earlier, one of Adonis' officers, Daniel Pantaleo, was fired by police commissioner James O'Neill for his horrendously horrible bust on Staten Island in July 2014.
An administrative trial judge had recommended the dismissal of Pantaleo, claiming that his use of a stranglehold against the 44-year-old father during an arrest for peddling loose cigarettes was initially "acceptable" but should have been relaxed when taking possession.
Garner was caught in a video repeating "I can not breathe" during the incident.
Garner's family has asked for more heads, including Adonis.
When asked what took so long for the sergeant's case to go to trial, O'Neill told reporters Monday, "It will be soon."
"It will be this year, certainly this year," he said.
"It's a disciplinary case. We have to make sure that we look at all the facts. You have to make sure that we have conducted a thorough investigation. And then we move on.
Adonis did not respond to a request for comment.
