Lieberman denied making the remark to local media, but later resigned Friday afternoon after the prosecution.
Republicans would have defended the display as freedom of expression. Del, Dianna Graves, of the state, said: "Freedom of expression is something we must protect."
Democratic State legislature Mike Caputo also reportedly wounded a porter during the heated discussion around the poster, which would have led the employee to the hospital. The House Rules Committee is scheduled to meet on Saturday to decide if Caputo will face any repercussions.
Omar, an American of Somali descent and one of two Muslim women in Congress, later criticized the Republicans for their "anti-Muslim" poster.
