According to an information from Patricia Hernandez of Polygon, a missing $ 60,000 Pokémon card left the collectors community in shock. The card was purchased on eBay last year and disappeared during the transfer to its new owner.
The card in question is "Coach # 3", an exclusive card given to the finalist of the third place of a Japanese contest called Super Secret Battle in 1999. The unusual origin of the coach no. 3 makes it one of the rarest Pokemon cards in the world.
The card was sold by Pokemonplace, an eBay seller offering more than 300 Pokémon cards for sale. Pokemonplace told Polygon that coach # 3 had been sent via USPS to the Dubai-based Aramex courier, who would then be responsible for handing it over to the new owner. Polygon indicated that the card was covered by a $ 50,000 insurance policy, the highest available from USPS for this type of package.
However, Aramex told Pokemonplace that the card had never been received. The tracking information given to Pokemonplace shows a receipt signature from Aramex, but the company indicated that the signature was on a bulk package. To make matters worse, Pokemonplace can not claim the insurance policy from USPS because Aramex has signed up for a full delivery.

It is not known if the card has simply disappeared or if it has been stolen by an employee. Trainer # 3 was enclosed in a plastic container and is stored in a database for collectors. Given the rarity of the card, it would be difficult to resell at full value under normal circumstances.
Pokemonplace offers a bonus of $ 1,000 to anyone who can locate the card and help return it to the original buyer. According to Polygon, the victims do not seek to punish the potential thief, they simply want the card to be returned.
