Officially unveiled in July 2020 and Released in the US just a few months ago, the hardcore gaming-compatible Asus ROG Phone 3 could get an even more powerful sequel in the very near future.
Could a change in design and a name change is in progress?
An early version would allow the Taiwan-based company to support the first wave of “consumer” flagships of the year from major smartphone vendors like Samsung, Huawei or Xiaomi for a change, though if the story is. One indication, the ROG Phone 4 could see the light of day in China several months before Western markets like the United States.
Asus ROG Phone 4 official teaser
That and the decidedly unconventional designs of the first three members of the Asus ROG Phone family should be enough to kill the next edition’s global appeal … unless, of course, it doesn’t look like a “normal” 2021 anymore. high-end smartphone. This seems to be what Asus is hinting at on Weibo, although we’re obviously not entirely sure at this point that the ROG Phone 4 will indeed ship with a razor-thin “chin” and virtually no bezel. screen on top and on both sides.
Then again, we can’t even be certain that this bad boy will be dubbed Asus ROG Phone 4 as opposed to ROG Phone 5, with model number I005DA apparently hinting at the latter moniker. In case you were wondering, the The ROG Phone 3 is also known as the I003D, and skipping a digit (or more) has almost become standard practice in the mobile industry over the past few years.
Lightning-fast SoC, blazing charging speeds and another awesome battery
This massive improvement would put the Asus ROG Phone 4 (or ROG Phone 5) on par with the likes of the Huawei Mate 40 Pro and Oppo Reno 5 Pro while beating everything from Samsung’s Galaxy S21 family to Xiaomi Mi 11 and even the next one OnePlus 9 Pro in terms of wired charging technology.
The next-gen ROG Phone is also being asked (though not confirmed at this time) to pack a 6,000mAh battery, which looks absolutely colossal by conventional flagship phone standards. Of course, this isn’t your typical high-end handset family, which is why Asus has already equipped the ROG Phone 3 and ROG Phone 2 with a gargantuan cell of 6000 mAh.
Meanwhile, it goes without saying that 5G speeds will be part of this dedicated gaming package, alongside Qualcomm’s industry-leading Snapdragon 888 processor and at least 8GB of memory. The entry-level 8GB RAM configuration was benchmarked in its undoubtedly unfinished and unpolished form a little over a month ago, mind you, already running Android 11 on the software side which is another sign that the handset could be ready for prime time as soon as possible.
