A SC mother arrested after allegedly facing bullying at her son's school: report

A mother from South Carolina was arrested last month after her alleged entry into her child's school without permission, shouted "threateningly" at several children ages 8 and 9 and was launched into a cursed tirade against a teacher, according to a report.

Jamie Louise Rathburn would have been upset by the fact that the school was not doing enough to stop intimidation against her son, Fox Carolina reported.

In a statement, Greenbrier Elementary School stated that it had met with Rathburn about bullying, that she was taking aggressive measures to stop the behavior and that she regularly kept him informed of the situation.

"The schools in Greenville County do not tolerate intimidation, no matter how old they are," the statement said. "In our opinion, the appropriate response to the school's misfortune is to entertain responsible adults … not a corridor filled with eight- and nine-year-olds."

The statement added that Rathburn's arrest comes after the parents watched the "profanity" video on social media and called law enforcement – not because school employees had filed a complaint.

Rathburn told CNN on Wednesday that she had lost her "cool card" when she had learned that her son had been separated from other students for her protection. "I walked right into this school [and] told these children that bullying was not acceptable, "she said. "If they wanted to continue, then I had to talk to their moms because the school was doing nothing."

She said that she did not regret having defended her son, but that she regretted it. She added that she "absolutely" owes excuses to students and staff.

According to Fox Carolina, she was accused of interfering, disrupting or disturbing schools by non-students. She is scheduled to appear in court next week.
