"Security, could you please empty the stadium," said the announcer as spectators ran into the field. "Everybody out."

It has not been clear whether shots were fired inside or outside the stadium, but police said several cases were found outside, according to reports. The shooting ended the match in the second quarter.

Police said that no arrests had been made and that a weapon had not been recovered.

"The stadium people, both the security and the police present, are all trying to be helpful, but I think chaos broke out when no one saw anyone with a gun." Philadelphia Police Commissioner Christine Coulter told WPVI.

The incident comes a week after the killing of two people when gunfire broke out during a youth football game in Fort Worth, Texas, on September 14th.

After parents fought over the match, the shooter opened fire from a small hill overlooking the field, the police said.

A woman was hit in the leg and a girl was grazed in the back.

"I thought it had to do with the two rival schools," said a fan of the game at the WTKR television channel.

Authorities said that an investigation was underway and that they would reinforce patrols during the next matches at the stadium.

A week earlier, a man had been shot dead on September 6 during a football match near Pittsburgh.

Williams was pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital.

A 40-year-old Jeannette suspect, Greg Harper, told the police that Williams had hit him twice in the head, which had thrown him to the ground. He then shot Williams once on the chest. Harper has been arrested on reckless homicide and endangerment charges, according to WTAE.

Following the shooting, Superintendent of the School District of the City of Jeannette, Matthew Jones, called for an increased police presence at the school, reported WTAE.

Another shooting incident took place the same night during a football match in a high school across the state.
