A mass of people shot dead near an American church tonight made one dead and at least six others injured.
Police rushed to the scene in front of the Perkins Square Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland, at approximately 17:30 local time (10:30 pm PT).
The police then confirmed that at least seven people had been shot dead and that one victim had died.
The extent of other injuries is not yet known.
Local reports say the shooter is still on the run after fleeing the scene by car.
It is not believed that the shooting had any connection whatsoever with the nearby church.
The locals told the local media that there was a barbecue in the neighborhood when the gunman stopped in a car and opened fire.
HIGH ALERT
Authorities are on the alert as places of worship are increasingly targeted by far-right terrorists and jihadists.
Tonight 's shooting comes just one day after one woman was killed and three others injured during an assault rifle attack in a California synagogue.
John Earnest, 19, was reported to have stormed the Chabad of Poway, near San Diego, as worshipers gathered for the last day of Passover on Saturday.
According to police officers, the gunman, wearing a helmet and bullet-proof vest, began shooting at the synagogue before an officer of the Border Patrol, out of service, fired down.
The attacker then fled into a car before being stopped by cops and surrender.
A manifesto filled with hatred and written by someone who called John Earnest appeared online before the attack.
In the racist cope, the author stated that he had been inspired by the Christchurch massacre suspect, Brenton Tarrant.
He also claimed to have been behind the recent fire of a mosque in Escondido, nearby.
The Poway attack took place exactly six months after the death of 11 people in a Pittsburgh synagogue – what the authorities call a neo-Nazi hate crime.
Jiahdis terrorists in Sri Lanka also targeted churches during Easter Sunday suicide bombings that claimed more than 250 lives.
