Two people died and a third person is missing after a small plane crashed into a home in upstate New York on Saturday.

The Cessna 303 plunged into the residence around 16:30. in the small town of Union Vale, about 15 miles from Poughkeepsie.

"I saw the house completely in flames," said neighbor Rick Plambeck at ABC News. "There was a woman in the house and she jumped out the window on a ladder with her dog and she told us that there was a man in the house, who was his father. But we did not know it and did not see it at all. The plane was at the back of the house, on the back porch.

One of the three people in the plane was killed and the other two were injured. One person from the house was killed, another was injured and the whereabouts of a third person are unknown.

Two Golden Retriever puppies and one adult Newfoundland dog escaped the wreckage and fire.

The small plane had left LaGrangeville's Sky Acres airport and was heading to Republic Airport in East Farmingdale on Long Island.

The Cessna had engine problems before hitting the side of the two-story house, according to Captain Paul DeQuarto. An investigation is underway.
