A small plane crashes into a house in Dutchess County, killing two people

UNION VALE, NY (AP) – A plane crashed into a home in New York on Saturday, killing a resident and a person in the plane and causing a major fire, police said. ;State.

The National Transportation Safety Board must determine why the Cessna 303 dived at approximately 4:30 pm in the rural town of Union Vale, 24 km southeast of Poughkeepsie.

State police spokesman Steven Nevel said three men were in the plane. one died and two were injured. Of three people at home, one is dead, another has been seriously injured and the third is missing.

Two Golden Retriever puppies and one adult Newfoundland dog escaped the flames that invaded the South Smith Street home in Union Vale.

The names of the victims will not be disclosed until family members have been informed, said the spokesman for the state police.

The Federal Aviation Administration said the Cessna had left LaGrangeville's Sky Acres Airport, one kilometer from the crash, to get to the Republic Airport, in East Farmingdale, Long Island.

At a press conference, state police captain Paul DeQuarto said that the plane had first taken off from Orange County Airport, in Montgomery, New York State, and then stopped to refuel at Sky Acres Airport, 64 km, before continuing to Long Island.

DeQuarto said the Cessna had some kind of engine problem before hitting the side of the two-story house, but it did not have any other details.
