GREENVILLE, S.C. – Authorities in South Carolina have accused a man of killing his daughter, whom he confused with a potential intruder.
The Greenville County Sheriff's Office said that Jermaine Pressley, 43, faced charges of murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and three counts of murder. charge of possession of firearm, as well as drug.
Lieutenant Jimmy Bolt of the sheriff's office said in a statement that Pressley had heard someone try to get home, so he shot through a door.
Officers responding to the shooting on Sunday morning found heroin and cocaine in Pressley's home in Greenville.
According to the coroner's office, Nadeja Jermainequa Pressley, 23, was fatally injured.
Pressley is currently being held at the Greenville County Detention Center. This is not immediately clear if he has a lawyer.
