FEBRUARY 26 – The gentleman from South Carolina, who this week bought Girl Scout cookies worth $ 540, was arrested this week by a federal indictment accusing him of distribution. heroin, cocaine and fentanyl imported from Mexico.

It turned out that the biscuit buyer was 46-year-old Detric Lee McGowan, known as "Fat" among his suspected cohorts of drug trafficking.
McGowan was arrested this morning by Drug Enforcement Administration officers in connection with an indictment indicted on 22 counts today at the US District Court in Greenwood. McGowan is one of 11 accused charged in the drug case.
McGowan is accused of conspiring to import and distribute heroin, cocaine and fentanyl. He also faces charges of smuggling money and keeping drug-related premises (Mountville, South Carolina property, allegedly used for the manufacture and storage of narcotics).
The indictment requests the confiscation of McGowan's home in Piedmont, a suburb of Greenville. The residence is co-owned by Lauren Brook Poore, who is accused in the indictment of conspiring with McGowan to illegally structure bank deposits. Prosecutors seek to seize four bank accounts jointly held by McGowan and Poore, 35 years old.
The DEA's investigation into the alleged narcotics distribution network included wiretapping several phones used by members of the organization.
This afternoon, a federal magistrate ordered McGowan's incarceration before a detention hearing. Poore was released on an unsecured bond of $ 25,000 and was ordered to limit his trip within the confines of South Carolina. (3 pages)
